Hi! I'm new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Kristi, and I'm the mom of 6, ages 12, 10, 6, 4, 4 (next week), and 2. This will be our first year with Waldorf, coming from a Classical/Charlotte Mason background. These past few years have been years of constant change and chaos. Although I do love the classical model, Waldorf calls to me every year, and my husband and I have decided that this year, we need to really work on our family's hearts and souls, and Waldorf seems to be the best way to do that. The kids and I are burning out, and we need to step back, reset, and see where we are and what we're doing. We need to BREATHE!
So, that's where we are now. I think we're going to be using Waldorf Essentials, although I have the September plan from Little Acorns, and I reserve the right to change ANY of that at any time. ;-) And I REALLY love the looks of Earthschooling as well. I tend to be a bit of a curriculum junkie, and I'm convinced that you can never have too many resources. (Anyone who can compare and contrast those, by the way, feel free to!!)
I'm a little nervous about Waldorf. I'm not artistic, in the least. The painting and form drawing and the like intimidate me, and so my big kids have had no artistic training. So, we'll see how it goes! And, there doesn't seem to be any sort of community where I live. I was really hoping there was, to celebrate the festivals and such with but I can't find any other Waldorf families.
It's very nice to be here, and I look forward to getting to know everyone!
